Aeroelectric Symbols for Visio

I have been working on a Visio stencil set containing symbols from Bob Nuckolls' Aeroelectric Connection. Although I personally prefer a schematic capture application, I've found Visio to be invaluable for many of these quick layout projects because it is well suited to symbol interconnections, especially when those symbols need to be more elegant than most schematic symbols. It's also better suited to the task than a CAD application because its tools are designed explicitly for the task (no more move command, select options, select displacement points, etc. - just drag and drop, and all of the bus lines move with you).

Click here to download. Visio 2000 or higher is required. You may need to right-click the file and select "Save As", depending on your Web browser.

To use this file, store it in a location you can remember. You can do a file search for *.vss to see where Visio stores its own stencils. Then open Visio. Click File->Stencils->Open Stencil, and browse for the file.

If you make changes to the symbols, please send your changes back to me so everybody can benefit from them. Please note that I am trying to stick to Bob's original symbol set as much as possible, and I reserve the right to reject changes that do not actually add value to the set.

Revision History
01/04/04 - Version 1, the first real release. Let me know how it works out for you.

01/03/04 - Version 0.2, a real set of symbols. This should be most of the commonly used items, with connection objects. I couldn't get double-click text changing working, but if you select the symbol and just starting typing that does the same thing.

01/02/04 - Version 0.1, just a test set of a few symbols for people to test. Version 0.2 will contain a basic set of the most popular symbols, properly sized and with connection handles added.
